I (James Kitching) am a professional commercial software developer with many many years experience.  I have worked on client server, barcode scanning, handheld and website systems in the manufacturing and financial service sectors and more recently in the waste and aggregates sector. My professional website is www.klore.co.uk. I am currently employed full-time as a commercial software engineer.  If this project receives sufficient funding, I will work on it full-time.  Click on this link to download my CV.

  • I have a masters degree (MSc) in software engineering from Coventry University.
  • I studied for a doctorate at Cambridge University for one year and passed my first year before giving up as I realised I was not suited to be a research biochemist.  The college I joined whilst at Cambridge University was Emmanuel College.  For any Americans interested in history this is the college where John Harvard got his education before he emigrated to the American to found Harvard University.
  • I have a BSc (Hons) 2.1 degree in biochemistry and applied molecular biology from UMIST.  For the uninitiated applied molecular biology is the industrial application of genetic engineering.  I got this award despite being an undiagnosed dyslexic.  I was subsequently assessed for dyslexia before doing my MSc.
  • I am a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) in C# .Net 2.0 windows development and in VB6.  Like many people I have not kept up with attempting to stay certified in current Microsoft technologies, they change so fast and do not necessarily improve on the past.
  • I was offered a PhD position at Birmingham University to work with Dr Behzard Bordbar & Dr Mark Hall in response to a project proposal I sent them in July 2013.  Unfortunately I could not get sensible funding (I was not prepared to go back to a student wage).   We then had issues over the “University” wanting intellectual property ownership and not wanting to crowd fund the research.  Since  then I have been learning via google / wikipedia and any academic articles I can actually read + some text books.  I need full membership of a university library to gain online access to a university library.
  • I started https://www.meetup.com/Haywards-Heath-ROS-AGI-Makers/ a community meetup group to collaborate in building AI projects.
  • I am now working with two others in developing HEMSEYE as a brand / potential open source research company p project for ethical AI development.
  • The most interesting and different contributions I feel we can make are
    • Using the semantic primes to bootstrap a sense of self (and true cognitive understanding)
    • Using the semantic primes with dynamic process modelling, discrete event simulation,  MOF and UML to model the world. – A Prototype in progress
    • Using the idea of HIVE shared memory to speed learning.
  • We plan on launching a new meetup in Brighton (there is load of tech there) to promote collaborative open source development and AI safety / ethics education.
  • The hemseye.org website need updating with the latest ideas.  But I have a full-time job and a life(partner).
